We were very happy to be included in the wedding celebration for Marc’s nephew Bruno and his wife Elizabeth. We had a wonderful time and I really enjoyed seeing one of my toppers on an actual cake! This design was an evolution of my stick figures wedding cake topper. Thank you Marie-Lou for the great shots of the cake!

New Years Cards!
As usual, my Christmas cards magically transformed into New Years cards! Since we are super-busy right up until Christmas with jewelry and wedding cake topper sales I focus on my cards after Christmas. I was very lucky this year to have been able to close my Etsy shop for 2 weeks over the holidays. Nice to find a little balance and take the time to recharge for 2012!
The cards have watercolor backgrounds with copper wire snowflakes which are attached to the watercolor paper. My mixed media cards are available in Montreal, Quebec at the Viva Vida Art Gallery: http://www.vivavidaartgallery.com

So I am following the advice of many marketing mentors and am utilizing social media to its fullest. Here is my latest YouTube video; a tutorial on how to make Snowman Earrings. They are super-cute and were a HUGE success this holiday season!

Encaustic Class with Susan Ukkola
I really enjoyed taking an encaustic workshop with Susan Ukkola in Ottawa. The tree piece incorporates a photo transfer. For the leaf piece I made the abstract background during the workshop then completed the piece back home. I made the wire leaf with copper wire and traced the shape onto the background. I added more burnt sienna
wax as a backdrop for the leaf then drilled holes into the wood and secured the wire leaf. My embossing heat gun fused the work into a cohesive piece!
Susan’s work can be seen on her website:

New Improved Lettering!
The customer is always right!!! I had a customer from Las Vegas who was disappointed because her Heart Wedding Cake Topper didn’t stand out as she had hoped. That motivated me to do a little research into lettering styles. I’ve improved my style so it is less stiff and more loose and artistic. I am very thankful for my clients that continually give me constructive criticism and fantastic design ideas!! Here is the new design:
