Pepper lives on in our hearts.

Our beloved rabbit Pepper died on August 8 at the age of 8. She was a huge part of our family, with us from the time my daughter was 8 to 16. I had created a miniature stuffed Pepper complete with a tiny couch made from the fabric of her sofa. I put a tiny bag of Pepper’s ashes inside the belly of the stuffed bunny. Yesterday, after cleaning out my studio (which was Pepper’s room for her last year) I decided to make a jewelry piece with her ashes for myself. I used a small length of plastic medical tubing, which I’d saved from my friend Allison’s oxygen tube after her double lung transplant 10 years ago. I added some beads, including a tiny hematite heart bead. The bunny charm was leftover from some pieces I bought to make fundraising jewelry for the Quebec Rabbit Rescue Association.

Steampunk Wedding Cake Topper

My daughter Myriam and I did a fieldtrip downtown Montreal to visit the Fresh Paint Gallery: http://freshpaintmtl.com/ and were inspired by some amazing street art inside the exhibition space, an abandoned building on Ste. Catherine Street.
Together we created this Wedding Cake Topper in a goth/steampunk style. I crafted the skulls out of polymer clay and Myriam painted them with acyrlic paint. The top hat is made of fun foam and the veil is netting. Myriam designed the figures with odds and ends from my magic suitcase and I fixed them together with wire. This one-of-a-kind topper is available for sale in my Etsy shop: http://www.heatherboyd.etsy.com…but maybe not for long!

All in the family!

We were very happy to be included in the wedding celebration for Marc’s nephew Bruno and his wife Elizabeth. We had a wonderful time and I really enjoyed seeing one of my toppers on an actual cake! This design was an evolution of my stick figures wedding cake topper. Thank you Marie-Lou for the great shots of the cake!
This design is now availble in our Etsy shop: http://www.heatherboyd.etsy.com

Tree Wedding Cake Topper by Myriam Boyd

My daughter has created a new line of stylized tree wedding cake toppers. Her work can be seen in our Etsy shop. http://www.heatherboyd.etsy.com. The black tree has been spraypainted with acrylic enamel paint and has antique red hearts to give it a goth look. The tree with the teardrop pearls has a lovely classic look. She can custom make orders in different sizes with different colored beads.

Guitar Pick Earrings

In honour of my niece, who is moving out West with her musician boyfriend, I have made up some new designs for guitar pick earrings! I have many music themed items in my online Etsy shop:

Twine Couple Cake Topper

Twine Couple Cake Topper

This design was a special request from Grettel! She is planning a country style wedding and wanted something with a rustic feel. It is made of wire and wrapped in twine. I also sell the same design in plain wire, personalized with the couple’s names. I won’t be mass producing these babies since they are very labour intensive, but it was a fun and challenging project!
